These two are the love of my life (oh, besides hubs). They are the ones that greet me excitedly when I walk through the door. They wait patiently for me to wake up in the morning before attacking me with their love. As I’m typing away on the computer, they lie on the ground besides my feet. The young one would claw my knee once in a while to remind me that they’re both waiting for me, but never rushing me. Every time as I get ready for work, they look at me with their big puppy dog eyes. They bring me immeasurable amount of joy. They fill me with laughter at their childish antics. I never experience such unconditional love as theirs. My cute little babies.

My Maltese oldie has been with me ten years. If I had a kid, he/she would be ten! I never treated him like a dog and he never acted like one. He knows when I’m happy, when I’m joking, when I mean what I say, and when I need an extra pair of ears. Throughout these ten years, I lost him once (grandma left him in the yard too long and he snuck out the fence). That was the worst day of my life. I tear up just remembering the day and I thank God (or whoever above) for giving him back to me. A few months back he gave us a health scare. I know he’s getting older but he has quite a few good years left with me. I’m still in search of a house with a HUGE backyard for him.

My baby schnauzer is another story. He really is a dog (if that makes any sense). He’s playful, attached, bratty but completely lovable. I forgot what it was like to have a pup. He loves to eat grass and tears them out by the roots. Too bad my backyard is a concrete jungle. Reason why every time he’s back at my parents, he thinks their backyard is a buffet. He’s usually the one that starts the laughter. I love how he tries to entice his older brother to play with him! He never seems to give up or get tired, but when he does tire, he snores when he sleeps. In the year that we had him, he had weaseled his way not only into my heart, but everyone else’s as well (being that my parents initially thought he was related to a rat!).

Well there you are, these two little munchkins are the key to my heart.

2nd Anniversary festivities

September 21, 2007

Like I mentioned before, I really wanted something low key (saving up the dough for our trip in Nov). I gave hubs very specific instructions on buying a ‘cotton’ gift. He thought he was so smart and paying attention to things that I talk about (BIG surprise). We watched Oprah just the other day about Vera Wang’s new line Simply Vera. I mentioned some of the tops would be really appropriate for wedding coordination. So dear boy that he is, went and tackle the crowd at Kohl’s. There wasn’t much left (or so he says) but he was able to grab a white top (size 14, he said it’ll look good big, un huh). I have to give him credit though, just by him listening to me was gift enough. =) Here’s a picture of the top.

Well…for hubs’ present. I kind of cheated. I know we weren’t suppose to get anything extravagant and I really don’t think my gift is that extravagant. But the funny part was I wanted him to think it was something else. So I placed cotton boxers in the tie box. He opened the box and started laughing, saying I wasn’t kidding when I said nothing extravagant. And as he was pulling aside the boxers, the ties were wrapped in tissue at the bottom. He continued to giggle and open the tissue, fully expecting more boxers, and there they were. Two ties for our 2nd year anniversary (and since the ties were probably silk, I HAD to get cotton boxers to qualify). I love the patter on the Charvet tie and can you see the little butterflies on the Ferragamo? And of course they’re P I N K!

Here are the ties in the tie box without the tissue. Hubs was also thrown off when he first saw the box. I love how I tricked him into thinking 1) I cheated because of the fancy box 2) no I didn’t when he saw the boxers 3) I kind of did when he finally saw the ties.

I placed the boxers on top to hide it

Missing one boxer, yes he’s already using his ‘gift’

And as I’m taking pictures, my baby had to nose around. Here he is with his BIG nose. Isn’t he cute?!

And as promise, here are some pictures of our 2nd anniversary dinner. We went to my favorite restaurant (that happens to be just down the street from us) Bistro K. We didn’t realize but they just changed owners. The menu is much smaller and I’m sorry to say, the entree wasn’t as good. I’m kind of sad one of my favorite french bistro is no longer the same. Boo.

For appetizer we ordered the foie gras with peaches. It was big thick juicy slice of foie gras. Since hubs isn’t a big fan, I ate almost the whole thing all by myself. =)

Then we had the escargot, which was very garlicky and buttery. Yum.

For our entrees, I had the duck with lentils. Duck was okay, the lentils was good. But how can you cook lentils wrong?

Hubs had the lamb chops with couscous. The lamb was good but the couscous was mushy and not very flavorful.

And not like before where dessert is usually order with the entrees (since it takes a good hour to prepare). Under new management, they brought out a display platter. We settled for the tiramisu. It’s different, not much cream and more like cookie. I wouldn’t say I like it better than the traditional type.

Bistro K is right next to the Fremont Centre Theatre. You meet an assortment of characters while you dine out in the patio. One time as I was dining with some coworkers, a man offered to recite a poem for us. Not to be rude, we agreed. When he started the first verse of The Highwayman, I snickered and watched my coworkers not knowing they were in for a 20min poem! The man was good though. He performed the poem and not just recited. However, when he offered to do another one (Annabel Lee by Edgar Allen Poe), we thanked him nicely but refused.

All in all it was a wonderful day. Hubs was especially sweet. After dinner we took our babies out for a nice long walk. I had to work off the bottle of wine I polished off during dinner somehow.

8 random facts

August 25, 2007

I saw this on the photographer blogs that I read religiously and thought it might be fun.

Eight things that people may not know about me:

8. I been trying to keep a diary for years. I think the first time I tried was probably in grade school. Longest I kept it up was in junior high (all the misadventure of the nerdy honor student). And last time I tried was in a green leather journal I bought in Vegas for hubs (which he obviously wasn’t going to use and I didn’t want it going to waste). Till now…

7. I prefer wings to drumsticks. The best part about eating buffalo wings/chicken wings/chicken feet/chicken neck/duck tongue…is the cartilage, not the meat. Yes call me weird but that’s what I like.

6. People would think I eat everything (the little piggy I am) but I come to realize I’m pretty high maintenance when it comes to food. I don’t like nuts in my food, I don’t like mixing sweet and salty food in the same bowl (never understood peanut butter and jelly…oh and I don’t like peanut butter), I like my fruits crisp, banana green, and not too sweet, I don’t eat fast food (rarely), I like my steak fairly bloody, I don’t like water chestnuts (which I consider nutty), I ONLY like vanilla or coffee ice cream (unless it’s sorbet), I don’t like chocolate and mint, and finally…everything taste better spicy!

5. Seeing what a good mommy I am to my doggies, I don’t think anyone would believe if given the chance, I would prefer never to have dogs. I didn’t grow up with pets. I had a white rabbit name Snowball who I starved (unintentional) to death, dried out the two turtles living in the tank (they were hibernating! I didn’t know they need water!), buried many goldfishes in little candy cartons…I don’t think I should be trusted with anything living. My mom being the anal retensive perfectionist (I know where I get it from) didn’t allow dogs to dirty our beautiful white carpet. Thus I never knew the responsibility that came with having a pet. I worry and miss my babies when I travel, my daily conversation with the hubs and parents (when they are watching the babies) are about the dogs, I take walks and go to the park because of the dogs, I want to buy a new house because of the dogs! I love my dogs. They bring me endless joy. I love dogs more than I love kids. It’s a lot of work…but the reward is immeasurable.

4. I use to sleep with a teddy bear. I saw it on TV and thought that’s what little kids do so I got myself a bear (or ask my parents for one) and slept with it. The bear always ended up on the ground though.

3. I also wanted a BEST friend after reading Anne of Green Gables. I wanted a ‘bosom’ buddy who I can share all my secrets with (who am I kidding…I don’t have secrets). I also use to put my tooth under my pillow for the tooth fairy till I was 10 and last time I wrote to Santa Clause was when I was a sophomore in high school. Can’t blame me for dreaming!

2. There was this little girl who use to live below me. Her parents owned a hair salon. I would always go over to play with the nail polish or fake jewelry. We would play imaginary games of butterfly and fairies in the employee rest area. One time, I made her give me all her candy or I wouldn’t play with her. She was crying but she gave me every last one of her candy. I wasn’t a bully…I gave her candy back. I was just testing her. What a manipulative 5yr old I was!

1. I forgive but never forget. I have a cousin that was mean to me in grade school and we’re good friends now (even went to Scotland twice to visit her) but she knows I still remember. =P

First blog! >o<

August 16, 2007

Hi! I’m excited to be here recording my daily happenings! I’m not ashamed to admit I been ’stalking’ certain blogs for a while and am super excited to be joining in on the fun. It’s weird how I know the daily happenings of certain ‘blog’ people while it’s sooo hard to keep up to date with some of my best friends. So here’s it goes…your life in P I N K!

Some simple facts about me…I’m a (recent) 31 yr old married to my highschool sweetheart (hope that’s not too much cheese). I love reading, traveling, movies, weddings (nope…I haven’t moved on to kids yet), arts & craft, singing, dancing, planning, reading…oh wait, I already mentioned that didn’t I? My hubby and I love living in LA and truly enjoy the melting pot of culture collected here. We love going out and exploring new restaurants (oh I forgot to mention food up top) and hanging out with our two fur babies (oldie & greenie)…that just remind me, I love the occasional glass of whiskey too! Here they are!!!

Well, as I grow with blogging, my goal is to keep a record of my goings/doings and best of all…to keep in touch with all my loved ones. Here’s to this new adventure in the path of life.
